Guest Tips
An important pro tip for staying here is to ask for a room on the back side of the building. The hotel runs parallel to the highway and those rooms at the front, facing both parking lot and road, get all that traffic noise. The back rooms face some woods; they’re much quieter-easy distinction between tossing one night or having good sleep. If you are a light sleeper then irrespective of where your room is located within this building packing either white noise machine or ear plugs would still be considered smart move.
Do not depend on the hotel's breakfast to sustain a day of hiking or wine tasting. It is very basic. Drive five minutes into downtown Elkin and visit a spot favored by locals, such as The Wisdom Table, or grab a proper Southern breakfast at any bakery for tourists. Remember also that Jonesville and Elkin are quite small towns; most places shut their kitchen doors by 9:00 PM even on weeknights. In case you arrive late, then your only options will be the 24-hour Waffle House or some fast food chains near the exit.
At last, check all amenities in the room as soon as you enter. Besides being glad that almost all rooms include a microwave and mini-fridge-(big plus for budget travelers)-in quite old motels, these appliances can either be unplugged or just finicky most of the time. Test them right away so you can ask for a swap if needed before you unpack. Also if traveling with pet clarify fee at front desk on check in to avoid surprise on credit card statement as policy can change seasonally.
